2 c milk
3 Tbsp quick-cooking tapioca
1/3 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Stir milk and tapioca together in top of double boiler.
Put over boiling water and let it come to a boil (tapioca comes to top and looks transparent).
Meanwhile, beat egg; stir in sugar.
Put a couple spoonfuls of hot milk mixture slowly into egg and stir.
Stir egg very slowly into hot milk mixture and stir till thick. Add vanilla.
Serve warm with cream.
