2 sticks butter at room temperature
1 c flour
2 c sugar
3/4 c cocoa
1 t vanilla extract
Mix it all up in a large bowl with a spatula (no mixer or whisk – you don’t want to add much air).
Pour into well-buttered square baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake at 350 until toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean (just not wet with batter).
Cool before slicing, if you can wait that long.
