Easy Country Wine
Making wine is something I always wanted to try, but frankly, the idea seemed a little intimidating! Until now!

Featured in Blog Post

Difficulty: Easy

Servings: 1 gallon

Prep Time: 3 weeks

Ingredients

3 cans of juice concentrate (it must be concentrate, not cocktail.)

3 cups of sugar

1/4 teaspoon yeast (plain old baking yeast is fine for this wine.)

Water to just below the shoulder of the jug

A latex balloon or ‘Bubbler’

Clean plastic milk/water jug or glass gallon wine jug

Directions

Mix the ingredients in the jug by shaking well (Keep your cap to the jug handy for this!) Place the balloon or bubbler over the opening, place jug in cool dark place and forget about it for at least 3 weeks.

Siphon off the wine, chill and enjoy!

Cathy, you must be able to do this with any fruit, is that correct? I have been wanting to make some myself, but am hesitant because I don’t want to blow it up. I have apple juice I made that would work I think.

I am really curious to try it with orange juice! That sounds like it would be really good or really bad, lol.

I just finished my first batch this weekend and it was great! So easy to make and good to drink. I am pumped to make my next batch and I can’t wait until the mulberries are ripe so I can make a batch of mulberry wine! Thanks for making this so easy for me.

Hi Cathy, I started my wine April 10 and finally the balloon has inflated. I’m excited to have it finally deflate so I can try it!! Summer is coming so this will be just the thing.

I made this wine and everybody who has tried it LOVED it!! I love it, too. I have given it as gifts. I made my first batch in a plastic water jug with a balloon on top. Now I have it in a glass jug with a bubbler, but either way works and is great! Thanks for sharing this recipe, I never thought I’d be a wine maker!

We have been using fresh fruit, and sugar, no yeast. Our daughter is getting married in a month and wants us to bring watermelon wine, but ours wont be ready, would this be good to bring? Should I look for frozen concentrate or use fresh watermelon?
