Amish comfort food. This is often served after church services. We ate this for dinner warm served with milk.

Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 45 minutesIngredients
3 cups dried tart apples
2 1/4 cups warm water
1 teaspoon lemon extract
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 double crust 9″ unbaked pie shell
Directions
1. Soak apples in warm water. Cook over low heat until soft.
2. Mash apples and add lemon and sugar.
3. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Cover with top crust. Seal edges.
4. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes; then at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Serve warm.
