My family has had this dessert with Thanksgiving and Christmas every year since I was a child. It’s purple, adds a bit of color to the plate besides that orange from those nasty yams. It’s so creamy, and if you’re crazy like me, you freeze it so it’s more of an ice cream than a jell-o dessert. The cranberries give it a zippy tang, toned down just perfectly by the whipped cream. I can’t imagine a holiday without it!
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 10
Prep Time: Ten minutes Cook Time: noneIngredients
1 pkg cream cheese
1 T mayonnaise
1 T granulated sugar
1 can cranberry sauce with whole berries
1/2 tub whipped cream
1 small can mandarin oranges, drained
1/4 C chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
Bring 1 box of cream cheese to room temp.
Mix all ingredients except the mandarin oranges and walnuts with a mixer.
Fold in the mandarin oranges and walnuts (optional) after the mixture is thoroughly combined.
Chill at least 4 hours before serving, or you can do what I like and freeze it for an ice-cream like dessert.
