Can anything be better for breakfast or a late supper than chocolate gravy over your favorite biscuit or a croissant? This recipe comes from the Homesick Texan. It is very close to what we used to serve many years ago from a recipe published in the newspaper.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 1-4
Ingredients
3/4 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of flour
1/4 cup of cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, but good)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (optional, but also good)
2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of butter
Directions
Mix the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt and cinnamon & cayenne (if using) together in a sauce pan. Add the milk and cook, stirring, over medium heat until it thickens. Stir in the vanilla and butter and serve immediately over croissants or biscuits.
Can be topped with pecans, hazelnuts, cocoa powder, or anything else that sounds good!
