This is an interesting sounding, but very tasty casserole, and this is coming from a gal that used to not eat casseroles much. It is an combination of tastes — cheesy potatoes, green bean casserole all rolled into one with the yum factor of bratwurst to top it off.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 6-8
Prep Time: 10-15 minutes Cook Time: 45 -60 minutesIngredients
1 pound fully cooked bratwurst or polish sausage — cut into slices
4 med. potatoes — cooked, peeled and cubed
1 – 16 oz can green beans — drained
1 – 10 3/4 oz can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
1 small onion chopped
Directions
In a large (3qt) casserole dish mix together all ingredients except one cup of shredded cheese. Top the dish with the remaining cheese and then cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove cover and bake until top cheese is melted.
***This is a casserole you can play around with to your taste — add more meat, more beans, more or less cheese as you like. I have always wondered if you could use a bag of frozen hash brown cubes, thawed, in place of the cooked potatoes just like you do in some of the cheesy potato recipes. I also sometimes bake this is a 9×13 pan that I just cover with foil***
