This easy recipe is from an old Woman’s Day cookbook that came in the magazine.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 48 cookies
Ingredients
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp each baking powder, baking soda
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 2/3 cups flour
Directions
Heat oven to 375°. Line baking sheets with foil. (I didn’t do this)
Beat butter and sugar in a medium bowl on high speed of mixer until pale and fluffy. Add baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon and salt beat until well combined. Add egg and beat until blended, then beat in molasses. On low speed, add flour until just blended.
Shape dough into 1″ balls; roll in sugar. Place 2″ apart on baking sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes until light brown around edges and tops crackle. Cool on rack.
