This is real yummy if you like sweet and sour foods. It’s fairly easy and does not require many ingredients. I mixed green with red cabbage , and I noticed it turned paler looking as it sat longer, but the taste was better than any I had ever bought. You can spice it up as you like, or omit what you don’t like. I did make mine less sweet also. Very easy and good.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: depends on cabbage size
Cook Time: 10 min.Ingredients
4 cup vinegar
1 cup water
2-3 cup sugar…..depending on how sweet you like it
add 1 Tbl each…
Mustard seed
Pickling spice
celery seed
Directions
Shred red cabbage and green cabbage
sprinkle salt over, let set couple hours to wilt
drain well
make brine of the water, vinegar, sugar and spices
Boil this mixture about 5 min, strain brine, pack cabbage into sterile jars tightly, pour brine over, run knife to release air bubbles and seal with sterile caps. Process in water bath for 10 min after it comes back to boil
note; You may use all red or all green cabbage, and make it as sweet or sour as you like
