This is an old recipe from my MIL’s book. This frosting is best eaten the day you make it for as it sits it gets rubbery but still tasty. It’s fast and simple and a family favorite.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: frosts one 9x13 sheet cake
Prep Time: 5 min Cook Time: 10 minIngredients
1 c sugar
1/4 c cocoa
4 Tb flour
1 1/4 c milk
1 tsp vanilla
3 Tb butter
optional: one dark chocolate bar, chopped up fine
Directions
Mix sugar, cocoa, and flour together in a microwave safe bowl. Whisk in milk until all is well mixed. Microwave until it comes to a boil (about 10 minutes in my microwave, yours may vary). Stir every 2 minutes. Beat in vanilla, butter, and chopped chocolate if desired. You can make this recipe on the stovetop on med-low heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil, then continue recipe as written. Pour immediately over your 9 x 13 cake.
