My Dad made these pickles when I was a kid and I love them! They elevate a simple sandwich into a gourmet treat. I love them with a roast beef sandwich or ham sandwich. KILLER chopped and added to ham salad.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: unlimited!
Ingredients
pickles – hamburger dill slices
prepared horseradish
celery seed
sugar
hot sauce (optional)
Directions
Drain a jar of dill hamburger slices.
Put a BIG forkful of grated prepared horseradish in the jar.
Shake in some celery seed.
Fill up empty space in jar with granulated sugar
Shake, Shake, Shake …..
Let stand at room temperature for a few hours, shaking from time to time.
Refrigerate.
Add more horseradish if desired & can add some hot sauce, too!
The sugar begins to break down as the moisture from the pickles are drawn out, forms a syrup, then glazes over the pickles.
SOOOOOO GOOD. Hot & Sweet.
