In the past, when I needed brown sugar for a recipe, I often found that my bag of store bought was hard as a rock. I’ve softened it in the microwave, by placing it in a dish next to a cup of boiling water, but if you don’t use it right away, it quickly becomes hard again. So, now I make my own, as I need it, and try to make just the amount that I need, so I don’t have to store any.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: depends on how much you make
Prep Time: a couple of minutes Cook Time: noneIngredients
For each cup of brown sugar needed, combine:
Light Brown Sugar –
1 c. granulated sugar
1 T. molasses
Dark Brown Sugar –
1 c. granulated sugar
2 T. molasses
Directions
In a food processor bowl, combine granulated sugar and molasses. Process until you see a uniform consistency. Store in an airtight container.
