This is such an easy appetizer and everyone seems to really like it. You can use a regular smoked sausage if you don’t want the spicy flavor. The jalapenos don’t really add that much heat. My husband likes to put a bit of cheese in the puff too. Hope you enjoy them!
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: about 40 pieces
Prep Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 minsIngredients
1 box frozen puff pastry (2 sheets),
1 pkg hot smoked sausage,
pickled jalapeno pepper slices
Directions
Thaw the puff pastry sheets. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll each sheet out on a flat surface sprinkled with cornmeal. Roll the sheets to about a 12″ x 15″ area. Cut each sheet into approximate 3″ squares…you’ll get about 20 from each sheet. Place a slice of hot smoked sausage and a pickled jalapeno slice on each square. Fold the puff pastry around the sausage and pepper and pinch the seam to seal. Place each pillow, seam side down, on a baking sheet which has been sprayed with Pam or equivalent and bake at 400 degrees until puffed and golden brown….about 20 minutes.
