My 18 year old son loves to make this for our family night. It’s fun to put together and we all seem to pitch in here and there in the making! Also, it’s elegant enough to serve to company.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: serves 6 to 8
Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 20 minutesIngredients
Bread dough, thawed.
2 large sweet onions. Try red and white or yellow.
fresh mushrooms
olives
mozzarella or jack cheese
tomatoes
olive oil
garlic
salt
pepper
oregano
parsley
Parmesan cheese
Directions
I start with bread dough that I keep frozen in medium sized balls. You could buy them as well.
Thaw bread dough and pull to fit a bread stone or pizza pan.
Meanwhile, saute 2 large sweet onions in olive oil. Add fresh sliced mushrooms. Saute until onions are caramelized. Season with plenty of fresh oregano, salt and pepper. A little paprika and grated nutmeg is nice too!
Using a pastry brush, brush olive oil onto bread dough. Start at the edges and work inward. Season bread dough with garlic and salt. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on edges.
Spread grated cheese onto prepared dough. Add caramelized onions.
Sprinkle chopped black olives next. Lastly, I like thinly sliced tomatoes on top. Sprinkle with parsley.
Bake in a 350 oven for about 20 minutes or until bubbly and slightly brown in spots. Slice with a pizza cutter.
Enjoy!
