How about some recipes for various types of bean soups? I bought a ready-made mix the other day for Navy Bean Soup, and it made four bowls of soup for under $5, and it was really good. I’d like to learn to make my own because you can freeze soups and stews easily and have home made hearty meals all at the last minute. Plus, beans store well dry. Thanks everyone!

Hi, Heather. Here is a bean soup that my husband and I modified a little. It’s from the Buckhorn Exchange restaurant in Denver. http://farmbellrecipes.com/a-famous-bean-soup-recipe-made-not-so-famous/
We used 3/4 cup onion instead of 1/2 cup, and added 3/4 cup diced carrot and 3/4 cup diced celery, and increased the amount of ham to 6 oz.
It’s tasty!

Heather I have a really good white bean soup I have been making for over 40 years. Recently I had some leftover ham and left out the beef and tossed in the ham towards the last of the cooking. It was equally good.
We enjoy this with cornbread.
