This is a very light dessert. No matter how full you are, there is always room. This recipe is requested at most functions.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: many
Prep Time: under an hour Cook Time: under an hourIngredients
1 Pillsbury Chocolate Cake Mix
(we like dark chocolate)
2 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
3 cups milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1 large vanilla instant pudding
10 oz. cool whip, thawed
Directions
Bake a chocolate cake according to directions, in a greased and floured 9″x13″ pan. Cool completely. Set aside.
Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar together. Set aside.
Beat pudding and milk until thick. Add cool whip and vanilla to pudding. Fold in to combine. Add cream cheese and powdered sugar mixture. Blend well.
Break apart cooled chocolate cake and layer into a large glass bowl. (A deep clear glass bowl looks pretty layered.) Starting with pudding mixture, spoon into bottom of bowl, layer with broken chunks of chocolate cake, layer pudding mixture, layer with broken chunks cake, etc, till all gone. If there are crusted pieces on ends of cake, I tuck those inward or cut off.
Chill overnight.
