So I made dog treats tonight. I don’t remember where I found the recipe. I have been using it for years and it is in my head. If you know, please tell me so that I can give credit where credit is due.
Being alone most of the time this year with Dear Husband on the road in the truck, I have had to keep my spirits up by myself. This really helped and made the house smell wonderful. The best part is I don’t feel the need to eat all the cookies myself!
The recipe is as easy as it can get, I think.
How to make Dog Treats: Printable
2 and 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
2 Tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Add a couple tablespoons of water if you need to so that you have a stiff dough. It should be a bit dry.
Turn it out onto a floured surface (it can be really sticky) and roll out to about 1/2 inch thick. Either cut it into pieces about 1 inch square for a bigger dog or 1/2 inch square for little ones…or use a cookie cutter.
Bake for about 30 minutes.
I often make these in tiny pieces (which you have to watch to not burn) for training bait for the dogs.
