This is a meal in itself! I eat it for breakfast Thanksgiving morning! This is an old family recipe – my mother showed me how to make it and I improved on her recipe.
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: a family of 8 for a side dish
Prep Time: about 1 1/2hours Cook Time: 45 min to an hourIngredients
1 lb sausage
6 cups cubed bread
1-2 cups chopped parsley
1 cup diced onion
1 cup diced celery
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 lb butter, melted
salt and pepper, to taste
1 – 2 tsp poultry seasoning
Directions
Cube and toast bread. Chop up vegetables finely and sautee in butter. Gently fry up sausage and separate into small pieces. Mix all together in large bowl. Add parsley and broth and bag it up and refrigerate overnight to give the flavors a chance to marry.
Bake in casserole dish at 350 degrees F or in slow cooker on high. Pour more broth on stuffing before baking if it seems dry.
