I am looking for a black bing cherry molded salad recipe my mother used to make in the 60’s and 70’s. It could be used as a dessert or a compliment salad, and most people made it around Thanksgiving/Christmas. She passed away some years ago and I have most of her recipes, but neglected to get this one. She was from Beckley, WV. I would really appreciate any help.

Sorry, but no help here. Perhaps some of us could take a peak in our old cookbooks to find something similar.

This is what my Mom used to make.
16oz cherry jell-o
1 cup water
1 cup coca-cola
1(14oz)can bing cherries,drained
1(20oz)can crushed pineapple,drained
1.Mix jello and water and bring to a boil
2.Pour in coca-cola and mix
3.Mix in fruit and pour into a jell-o mold
4.Chill at least one hour
If molded jello has a hole or indentation mayonaise or whipped cream can be added. Nuts can also be added to the ingrediants.
Hope this is something close to what you are looking for.

Dear mommafox:
Thanks you so very much for the recipe!!! It sounds exactly like the one I am looking for. I can remember most of the ingredients mother used, but could not remember the directions & how she made it. I have been on a million websites & old cookbooks, but none of them were exactly right. My brothers will be so happy when I make it. Again, thank you so very much. Aiken
