We already have several variations on the Gooey Butter Cake idea posted over at the Community Cookbook, but this one was on the Kroger cream cheese package, and it sounds just great. Will be trying it very soon, since we like anything with cream cheese!
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: 1 9x13 cake
Cook Time: 39-35 minutesIngredients
1 Box yellow cake mix, without pudding (or use Suzanne’s yellow cake mix)
1 stick butter, melted
1 egg
1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar
2 eggs
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together cake mix, butter, and 1 egg until thick and smooth. Press into 9×13 inch buttered pan.
Beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 2 eggs until thoroughly mixed and pour on top of cake mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

This has always been my go-to recipe for Gooey Butter Cake. It’s so good, and so easy! I really watch it and don’t let it get too brown around the edges. Oh wow…now I think I’ve got to go make one!
