I got this recipe at a cookie exchange at church. I know the crackers sound like a weird ingredient but the flavors all meld together leaving a chocolate covered brittle type candy that is awesome…and addicting!
Difficulty: Easy
Servings: approximately 40+ pieces
Ingredients
about 40 saltine crackers or enough to fill pan
1/2 pound butter (2-sticks)
1 cup light brown sugar
1 (12 oz) bag of semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels
1/4 cup chopped nuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Prepare pan (11×17 with sides) by lining with aluminum foil. Place crackers (single layer with sides touching) on aluminum foil completely filling pan.
Add butter and sugar to small pot. Stir over medium heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves. Bring mixture to a boil. Continue to stir and allow to boil for 3-minutes.
Remove from heat and pour the mixture over the crackers. Place in preheated 400-degree oven for 7-minutes.
Remove pan from oven and immediately pour the semi-sweet chocolate chips over crackers. Quickly spread the melting chocolate to cover the crackers. Sprinkle the chocolate with chopped nuts.
Place pan in refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours or overnight. After chilling, remove pan and break candy into bite size pieces.
